Zero Waste as an approach has been seen so far, as the best way to tackle the root causes of waste and broaden the obligation for real solutions. The idea for this guideline is to support governments’ decision-making in the attainment of effective waste management practices by introducing the concept of zero waste in the discourse.
The guideline appreciates the fact that zero waste can help to reduce greenhouse gases, combat climate change, preserve and restore environmental resources through increased use of compost products and reduce the need for inorganic fertilizer.
