What we do

Corporate
Accountability

Our corporate accountability campaign was born out of the need to halt anti-people and deceptive practices by big corporations,

while advocating strategies of influencing corporate behavior. Working in close collaboration with like-minded groups, our campaigns sometimes take on cross-regional dynamics, in which non-governmental organisations, public health experts, labour unions, community groups and others have joined forces to pressure corporate institutions to change their behavior.

The Corporate Accountability campaign targets the introduction of checks and balances at governmental level, on corporate power by advocating a set of standards for corporate decision-makers to abide by. The Corporate Accountability Campaign primary areas of focus are:

Tobacco
Control

Water &
Sanitation

Community
Health

Trade &
Corporate

What we do

We challenge the influence of corporations that undercut our basic human rights.

We mobilise community people to stand up to multinational corporations and hold them accountable for their actions and inactions. British America Tobacco Nigeria (BATN), Philip Morris International, among others, are some of the corporations that we continue to stand up to.

We are helping to build the capacity of community activists to directly lend their voices to our demands that the Lagos State government open up on water privatisation plans as part of the Our Water; Our Right Campaign which seeks transparency, accountability and democratic control in the management of public water infrastructure.

We mobilize grassroots pressure on a range of corporations that are interfering in public policy and threaten our equality.
